Hi all, I'm having an issue where I cannot save configs from GNS3. At the moment, I am running Windows 7 with GNS3 v0.6.1. I have tried every way to save (export, save, save as, save /all etc.) with no success. If anyone could help me out I would really really appreciate it! Update: I have searched and searched. I've seen other posts on this but no workaround mentioned seems to fix my issue. |

I was told yesterday that you need to doa few things first. Do wr on the console, then save the project to the HD somewhere. Then from the GUI you need to save each device. Try some combination like this. I'll check on the unit tomorrow. |

Hey folks, I'm really new to Ubuntu AND to GNS3. I also have issues saving configurations. When I press the save button, I get all sorts of errors on the GNS3 console. When I type "save /all" at the GNS3 console, the response ("saved configuration from R3...") suggests the configs are being saved. But when the routers start up again, I get the following messages on the router's console: "Original NVCONFIG doesnt have correct MAGIC number Backup NVCONFIG also doesnt have correct MAGIC number BIST FAILED... Unknown file system detected. Use format command to format the card as DOS File System. Or use erase command to format the card as Low End File System." ... rest deleted... The only thing that works for me is to do an "export /all foldername" at the GNS3 console. This saves a configuration file for each device in the folder specified by "foldername". However, when I restart GNS3, I can't seem to get the "import /all foldername" to work. It can't find "foldername". Darnit. Not sure what the heck to do now! |

Wow, there seems to be no way to get configs back into routers after spending serious time configuring them. Once GNS3 is exited, there seems to be no way to get the darned thing to start the routers back up with their configs. Can't even get the data in the routers after the fact. I've reviewed MANY posts and it looks like there are LOTS of folks experiencing similar issues. Given the tremendous capabilities of this program, it's amazing to me that this (simply saving things) would be as pervasive a problem as it seems to be. Incredible! |

Hey all (although I'm not sure anyone's there) Just to close out my posts above, my project included a couple 2691 routers with IOS "c7200-adventerprisek9-mz.150-1.M.bin". NVRAM didn't want to be available on the units, and GNS3, while wanting to save the configurations (with errors), wouldn't restore the configs on startup. Apparently my chosen router model and IOS was the root of all evil. Replaced with 3660s with IOS c3660-ik9o3s-mz.124-13b.bin and all is well. I used the 3660 so I could add a 16-port switching module and get some VLAN and other features going in a test lab. Apparently, this software is more dependent on the IOS than I thought - which is probably a really good thing. So, everything saves, NVRAM works, and life is good. |

Guys, I'm getting the same issues here. No way to get it working after saving project, closing aplication and opening it again. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I'm trying with different images of routers with no luck at all. The error message: --------------------------- Dynamips error --------------------------- 204-chdir: The system cannot find the file specified --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Any advices to get it working in my OS? |

I got same error when I had "Use relative path for projects" checked in GNS3 Preferences. Also post your .net file to see what path is set for your project. |

Hey all I have searched and I've seen many posts in forums. But I have to face up with a problem. I have tried every way to save (export, save, save as, save /all, copy run star, etc.) with no success. I have Windows XP SP2,GNS 0.7, used one router in the lab (3600, 3700). When I saved, The error message from console : ------------------------------------------------------ =>R1 : Dynamips error : 206-unable to extract config of VM 'R1' ------------------------------------------------------------- How to solve it? Please help me! PS: When I type command : '#copy run star ', one message occur : ' Destination filename [starup-config] ?'. Why that is? What I have to do? Plz!Thks a lot! |
